Nerve-related pain can feel very different from muscle or joint pain. Symptoms may include burning, shooting or electric pain, pins and needles, tingling, numbness or increased sensitivity to touch.
We assess your symptoms and the nerves involved to identify factors that may be contributing to your pain and determine the most appropriate approach to treatment.
Treatment is tailored to the type and sensitivity of your symptoms and may include nerve mobilisation, hands-on physiotherapy, graded exercise, movement rehabilitation, pain education, dry needling and electrotherapy where appropriate.
We also use STIMPOD neuromodulation as part of our treatment approach for selected patients with nerve and neuropathic pain. STIMPOD uses targeted electrical stimulation and may be incorporated alongside physiotherapy rehabilitation where clinically appropriate.
Treatment is carefully progressed according to your response, particularly when the nervous system has become highly sensitive.
Our goal is to help reduce the impact of nerve pain, improve movement and physical tolerance, and rebuild confidence in everyday activity without unnecessarily provoking your symptoms.
Where nerve symptoms may indicate an underlying medical condition or require further investigation, we work alongside your doctor or other healthcare professionals to ensure appropriate management.
